ARreLS: Augmented Reality for Adaptive Learning Management
ARreLS' main goal is to build a framework to enhance student-centred active learning by using emerging technologies such as augmented reality, mobile computing and open content. ARreLS is an adaptive e-learning platform, i.e. it adapts to the diverse needs and requirements of the students using it.
Developing ARreLS means addressing scientific challenges in the fields of:
Educational adaptive hypermedia systems and customization of context-based learning
Development of Learning Management Systems (LMS) able to adapt to students' heterogeneous needs (including disabilities and special needs) anywhere and at any time.
Augmented Reality
Thanks to Augmented Reality highly interactive instructional contents may be designed and developed. Students find these contents very motivating as they allow them to practice with actual objects in real places. ARreLS will address the accessibility and usability issues posed by Augmented Reality.
Mobile Learning
With mobile computing access needs to e-learning platforms anywhere and at any time can be met. Mobile computing also supports more focused activities and highly interactive contents. Thanks to mobile learning students access and mobility needs may be met.
Accessibility and usability for students with special needs.
Validation takes place by means of different test scenarios which feature the characteristics of the framework.
