The IIiA's eXiT research group participates in PePPer, a European project that seeks to develop a personalised decision support system for chronic disease management. The system, which combines case-based reasoning with predictive computer modelling, will empower patients to self-manage their diseases such as diabetes. The 3-year project will start on 1 February 2016 and has been granted by H2020, the European Programme supporting Research and Innovation. The grant is a significant achievement since the topic the project addressed - PHC-28-2015 - was heavily oversubscribed, with 265 proposals submitted.
eXiT members Dr Beatriz López, Dr Albert Pla and Dr Bianca Innocenti have experience in decision support systems applied to smart healthcare and therefore will play a relevant role in the project. PePPer is coordinated by Oxford Brookes University. The other members in the consortium are Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, Universitat de Girona, Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica de Girona, Romsoft SRL and Cellnovo Limited.
