Health research article selected as a Best Paper by IMIA in 2014

IMIA, the International Medical Informatics Association, has selected an article authored by Pablo Gay, Dr Beatriz López, Dr Albert Pla, Jordi Saperas and Dr Carles Pous as a Best Paper in its 2014 Yearbook of Medical Informatics. It is a very important acknowledgement to the work carried out by the five UdG's researchers since IMIA is the world body of health and biomedical informatics. The selected article is entitled "Enabling the use of hereditary information from pedigree tools in medical knowledge-based systems" and was published in the Journal of Biomedical Informatics in 2013.

The Institute of Informatics and Applications is very proud of this recognition of the international community to its researchers, which mirrors the quality of the research on health deployed at the institute, together with other awards recently received by the eXit research group in this field. eXiT carries out research on decision support systems, case-based reasoning, machine learning and optimization. One of the research lines focuses on improving the quality of healthcare by means of innovative Artificial Intelligence applications. To that end, Dr Beatriz López is leading the  Smart Healthcare Master Programme, a new master's degree focused on the application of Information and Communication Technologies to healthcare.
