The Master in Smart Cities started in September 2013. It allows engineers, architects and economists to master the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) needed to meet the challenges modern cities currently face. It provides high quality teaching in the fields of urban planning, graphics, data, networks, and socioeconomics applied to cities.
The Master's degree is delivered in collaboration with the University of Girona's Chair "Girona Smart City", which is sponsored by the Girona City Council. In addition, the Master's sister cities provide real life scenarios where students can carry out their practicums. Sabadell was the sister city in 2014-2015 and Schiedam, the Netherlands, will be the sister city in 2015-2016.
The Master in Smart Cities is an official master of the University of Girona. Upon completion of the Master's, students will be able to join a doctorate, pursue a research career or work as urban technologists, a new and very much needed professional profile.
