Computer and Vision Robotics (VICOROB)

The Computer vision and robotics group develops real time computer vision and image processing systems with applications such as object, pattern, color and shape recognition and tracking of mobile objects. One of the main application areas is the control quality of industrial products. Other fields of application are biomedicine and security-related systems. The computer vision systems are also the main source of information of the robots developed by the group. Some of them aim to improve the autonomy and mobility of disabled people, while others are autonomous and teleoperated vehicles with industrial and research applications. For instance, GARBÍ is an underwater robot developed in collaboration with the UPC. GARBÍ is used to take long underwater observations and to collect samples in a teleoperated way. The autonomous and teleoperated robots have transport, industrial and security-related applications.

The following are VICOROBs research laboratories:

  • Underwater Robotics Lab
  • Underwater Vision Lab
  • Real-Time Hardware Lab
  • 3D Perception Lab
  • Image Analysis Lab
