Control of postprandial blood glucose in type 1 Diabetes

Control of blood glucose in the postprandial period in type 1 Diabetes. Safety and efficacy of a new algorithm in closed loop (artificial pancreas)

Glycaemic control or closed-loop artificial pancreas to date has proven to be effective in the control of fasting blood glucose, postprandial control but using this type of therapy is far from optimal. Moreover, the development of tools that facilitate decision on bolus administered prior to ingestion in patients treated with multiple doses of both insulin and insulin pump is one of the current challenges in diabetes therapy.
The project is divided into two basic lines of research with several studies in each:
  • Artificial Pancreas: in this respect the main objective is the clinical validation of a new algorithm for glycaemic control in closed loop compared with conventional therapy.
  • Validation tool SAFEBOLUS: has developed a tool to warn patients about the risk for hypoglycaemia qualitatively based on the data of the same metabolic control. Initially there will be a retrospective observational study which included patients with DT1 regular users therapy ISCII & continuous glucose monitoring (MCG) to validate the tool.
