Smart Cities: Opening Lecture + TEDx

On 20 September the University of Girona will give a significant boost to smart cities. First of all, the Girona Smart City Chair will host the opening lecture of the new masters degree in Smart Cities. The lecture, which will take place at 11 AM at the Polytechnic School, will be given by renowned people in the field: Peter Nijkamp (VU University Amsterdam), Guang-Jie Ren (IBM Almaden Research Centre, CA USA), Carles Flamerich (Catalan Government) and Manel Sanromà (Barcelona City Council). Lluïsa Marsal, researcher of the Institute of Informatics and Applications, is the Director of the chair, a joint initiative of the University of Girona and the Girona city council.

Besides, the TEDx UdG City 2.0 will take place at the Girona Coference Centre on the same day at 6 PM. Peter Nijkamp (VU University Amsterdam), Mark Segal (Girona Smart City's secretary) and members of the IIiA Lluïsa Marsal and Joaquim Meléndez will spread innovative concepts about smart cities.
